School Visits, Bookshelf Awards and Book Prizes

I love visiting primary schools and libraries to give readings and do this as often as I can. This year my readings were coupled with book sales and I particularly enjoy inscribing each copy bought with a personal message to young readers; many of them are building up a collection of Grandma books and there’s nothing nicer for me than being told how much they love the stories!

Bookshelf Award

Cinderella Grandma was awarded ‘Best for Feel-Good Fun’ on the coveted Primary Times Bookshelf shortlist!

Primary Times Competitions

I have sent out several copies of my books to competition winners through Primary Times magazine (N. London edition).

There is another competition in February’s issue (2025) so why not have a go! Keep an eye on their competitions page (above) for all the most recent prizes you can enter to win!

And check out the information about Grandma and her adventures in the Winter 2024 edition:

School visits and writing workshop

I was also invited to do a reading and, on a separate occasion, to provide a Workshop to Year 3 children on Story Planning at Goodwyn Primary School in Mill Hill, N London, and a lovely piece appeared in their school end of year magazine:

“Author Alison Grunwald delighted KS1 and KS2 with a lively, resplendent reading of her book ‘Grandma Almost Becomes Queen’.  She answered the children’s questions about the life of an author, including how she came to write and publish her stories. The children came away inspired and there are hopefully many Goodwyn authors on the horizon.  Alison led a writing workshop with Lower Remove, where she explained the writing process and shared how she finds inspiration for her stories.  The children then brainstormed their fun story ideas…they had had the good fortune of a very special visitor.”
